Welcome to the Beds, Bucks & Herts Society of Chartered Accountants

At the Beds, Bucks & Herts Society of Chartered Accountants, we are dedicated to empowering Chartered Accountants in our area.

As BBHSCA members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) you will gain access to support for your professional journey and to enhance your career.

Why Join BBH?

Member Support & Engagement

Digital Accountants Club (open to members in both practice and business)

Join our monthly virtual meet-ups to tackle industry challenges, collaborate on innovative solutions and support each other in a dynamic environment – all in just one hour.

Connect with peers in an informal setting at our annual summer BBQ, in the beautiful private grounds of St. Michael’s Manor in St. Albans.
This takes place in the spring and is an opportunity for members to meet socially. Celebrate the year with us at the prestigious event alongside 100+ members and guests.

Exceptional Training Opportunities

CPD Courses - Face to Face Training

Benefits from over 20 tailored CPD events each year, including the premier “Accountants in Business” conference. Our face-to-face sessions are designed to complement ICAEW’s virtual offerings and keep you ahead in your field.

Engage in thought provoking discussion, technical updates and networking regularly at locations around Beds, Bucks & Herts. The Chatham House Rule applies, so you can speak freely with your peers and knowledgable presenters about issues that affect you and your business. These evening events are often followed by a light meal.

Engaging Social Activities

Women’s Accountancy Group (WAGs)

Join our vibrant community 3 or 4 times a year to advance your careers with shared experience, mutual support and networking.

Test your trivia skills at our fun filled autumn quiz night. The 2024 quiz in October took place at the Old Albanians’ Sports Club just north of St Albans and was Olympic themed.

Enjoy camaraderie and competition at our golf events, featuring a full day of golf, lunch and prizes.

Stay connected with peers and enjoy exclusive events including guided tours and inspiring talks like the one in November 2024 from Lucy Lewis.

Valuable Local Influence

Business Members’ Events

Gain insight from industry and thought leaders. Our events offer a unique chance to interact with high profile speakers and explore their success stories.

Build on our relationship with the University of Bedfordshire and the University of Hertfordshire. This is a two way relationship with students exposed to the potential of becoming Chartered Accountants and local practices seeing the local Universities as a source of potential employees.

Contribute to the next generation of Chartered Accountants by participating in our mentoring programme, supporting students from local universities.

Support the national “Access Accountancy” initiative and help make our profession more representative of wider society.

About BBHSCA

The Beds, Bucks & Herts Society of Chartered Accountants was first formed as a branch of the London Society in 1959, becoming a separate society ten years later. As an independent local society, it is here to represent ICAEW members in the area, at whatever stage in their career, including those who are recently qualified, working in practice, business, public and third sectors. It also represents the interests of ICAEW Chartered Accountants to the wider business community.

If you want to know more about the volunteer ICAEW Chartered Accountants who represent the profession locally, or you have an enthusiasm for new ideas and want to champion these to fellow members, please contact us.

The Society is an independent organisation which seeks to represent and promote the interests of ICAEW Chartered Accountants. Materials, comments, announcements and other materials issued by the Society, or contained on our website, are the sole responsibility of the Society, or the individual contributor, and do not represent ICAEW’s official position unless stated to be so.
